The Spanish-Norman Horse was developed to recapture the powerful extinct Norman horses of the medieval times. Crossbreeding the Andalusian and the Percheron created the Spanish-Norman Horse. Both the Percheron and Andalusian are descendants of the Spanish Barb and the extinct Norman was crossed with Oriental stock to develop the Percheron. In 1991 the Spanish-Norman Horse Registry was established. The Spanish-Norman stands on average between 15.3 and 17 hh. This elegant horse has a presence of passivity with excellent personality and disposition. The Spanish-Norman has large eyes, long neck, strong quarters, with well-built feet and legs. The Spanish-Norman is an all-around sport horse and competes in a variety of competitions including eventing, dressage, driving, and jumping. This horse is also used as exhibition mounts, performing in historical and medieval games, pleasure, and parade.
