The Poney Francais de Selle is a relatively new breed of pony that originates in France. The Poney Francais de Selle may also be referred to as the French Riding Pony. This pony is similar to that of the British Riding Pony. The Poney Francais de Selle was developed with the base stock of the Landais, which is a native French pony. The Landais has ties with the Welsh Section B and Arabian blood. The Landais was then crossbred with Connemaras, New Forest Ponies, and some Thoroughbred. The Poney Francais de Selle is bred to be a pony version of the Francais de Selle. This pony is appropriate for Pony Club activities.
