The Morab originated in the United States. The Morab was developed in the early 1800s and was known as Morgan-Arab. The Morab is a crossbreed of Arabians, Morgans, and Quarter Horse. The Morab was created to be a carriage horse but it was found that it was a beautiful horse with great trotting ability. In 1854 one of the most famous was Golddust. It was not until the 1920s that the Morab name was used and the Morabs were bred in breeding programs. Good training and selective breeding has produced many great Morabs.The Morab stands on average 14.1 to 15.2 hh. The Morab is a long-lived horse that is slow to mature. These horses are obedient and easy to train with a calm temperament. The Morab is reliable, affectionate, and smart. The Morab has a refined head, broad cheek, and heavy neck, with long sloping shoulders. The back is short and strong with sound legs. The gait of the Morab in action is free flowing. The Morabs are used for driving, trail work, parades, riding, and light draft work.
