The Kladruber originated in the former Czechoslovakia. Emperor Rudolph II developed these horses in 1597. The Kladruber were bred for the Imperial Court in Vienna, which by the 18th century housed 1,000 of these horses. The Lippizzaner influence helped develop the color of white in the herd of the modern Kladrubers. The Kladruber is a heavy horse bred mainly used as a coach horse.
