The Iomud descended from the ancient Turkmenian horses and was developed by the Iomud tribe. The Iomud was influenced by Arabian blood in the 14th century. The Iomud has a clean-cut head, firm back, fine legs, and is a long-lived horse. The Iomud herds are kept in the desert and semi desert areas. The population of these horses has decreased significantly and in 1983 a stud farm was opened in Turkmenia. This stud farm along with a conservation farm in the Kyzl-Atrek district is trying to protect and restore the Iomud breed. Google Ads
