The Hackney Pony originated in Great Britain’s west coast. Christopher Wilson created this pony in Cumbria in the 19th century. The Hackney Pony is related to the Hackney Horses, but breeding was based mostly on the Fell Pony stock. The Hackney Pony stands on average up to 14 hh and does not exceed this height. This pony is remarkable in harness and also in the show ring. The Hackney Pony and the Hackney Horse share the same studbook. The Hackney Pony is now bred all over the world, but are most popular in Canada and the United States.
