The Czechoslovakian Warmblood originated in the Czech and Slovak Republics. These horses were developed through the Topolcianky state stud, as well as the stud farms in Hungary. Crossbreeding Gidran, Nonius, Furioso and half-bred English horses created the Czechoslovakian Warmblood. There is also some additional influence from the Shagya Arabian and horses from the Hungary stud. The Czechoslovakian Warmblood generally stands on average 16 to 16.2 hh and has an even temperament. The head of this horse shows quality with a strong body and broad back. The legs are short, hooves are small but well formed, and back quarters are heavily built. The Czechoslovakian Warmblood may be any solid color. This horse is considered to be a light carriage horse with an adequate riding conformation. The Czechoslovakian Warmblood makes a well-trained dressage horse, but has no gift for jumping or cross-country.
